Sara Petite

Sara Petite

Sara Petite was born and raised in the countryside of Sumner, Washington, later relocating to San Diego. Her rural youth helped shaped her songwriting, which often incorporates accordion, pedal steel guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and accordion.

Her song "Coming Home" won the "Best Song Award" in the Country/Americana category in the 2006 Portland Songwriting Contest. The song turned up on a French Country Music compilation CD (Universal Music of France) and on Petite's 2007 album, The United States of Americana (Shut Eye Records).

Her 2009 album features the Sugar Daddies and the Tiger Mountain Boys. In September of that year, she won Best Americana or Country Artist at the San Diego Music Awards. Sara has a wide range of influences such as June Carter, Iris Dement, Bob Dylan, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, John Prine, Shelby Lynne, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Steve Earl, Patty Griffin, Tom Petty, Madonna, Merle Haggard, Lucinda Williams, Bruce Springsteen, and Roseanne Cash.

The Shirthouse Bluegrass Band

Shirthouse Band

Shirthouse Bluegrass Band is a Southern California band with a Tennessee sound. Some members have roots in Virginia and Tennessee. The band has been around for about seven years and can be found at several venues around San Diego County. You can catch them every third Sunday at the Urban Solace Restaurant’s “Bluegrass Brunch” in North Park. Every few weeks they sojourn up to Julian and perform at Wynola Pizza Express.

The Shirthouse Band plays at various churches, as they have a strong emphasis on the bluegrass gospel musical style, as well as community fund raisers, parties, festivals and other events.

Shirthouse is made up of Rich Craig on banjo, Peter Lauterbach on mandolin/guitar/fiddle, Conley Robinson on guitar, Len Claesson on bass and Rob Lewallen on guitar/mandolin. The Shirthouse Band has an emphasis on strong vocal harmonies and occasionally strays off the path of the traditional with some of their tune selections. All five band members split up the lead vocals and all contribute to the five part harmonies.

The band is really looking forward to being the "bluegrass contingent" at the Ramona Music Fest this year...... this may be the first time bluegrass has been represented at this festival. The Shirthouse band will also be appearing a week later at the Ramona BLuegrass & Old West Fest at the other end of town on May 4th & 5th..

The Blues Specters play all the greatest blues classics including Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson, Paul Butterfield and more!

San Diego's own Steve Fritzenkotter wails on the Slide Guitar, and Andrew Fakhouri, who has played Lead Guitar for more decades than he wants to remember, lays down the riffs only a highly accomplished blues player can deliver.
